BIOGRAPHY

Soprano Melanie I. Anderson has sung throughout the US, Italy, Canada and the United Kingdom. Melanie is based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and sings regularly with Seventeen Voyces and OperOttawa. In 2022, Melanie sang the Sandman and Chorus at OperOttawa's Opera Gala. In 2019, Melanie joined Seventeen Voyces as soprano soloist in Faust. In 2018 & 2017, Melanie performed with SOPAC as part of the chorus in Cendrillon, Le Cercatrici in Suor Angelica and as part of the chorus in Pagliacci. In 2016, Melanie sang Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Annina (La Traviata) and Suor Osmina (Suor Angelica) as part of the Mediterranean Opera Festival in Sicily, Italy in addition to joining the Opera Delaware Chorus for their critically acclaimed U.S. East Coast Premiere of Faccio's Amleto. Melanie has been a soloist with organizations such as Kneseth Israel, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Live Arts Maryland, the Canadian Centennial Choir, and the Anglican Chorale of Ottawa, among others. 
         

A passionate music teacher, Melanie has taught Master Classes at Canterbury High School in Ottawa, and was on the voice faculty at the Broadneck Performing Arts High School in Maryland. She has served as Co-Director of the children’s choir at the Jewish Education Center of Anne Arundel County, and assisted with the Annapolis Youth Chorus and Anne Arundel Community College Theatre productions in Maryland. 
         

Having completed certificates in piano and voice from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Melanie also holds a Bachelor of Computer Science and works in Cyber Security. She has trained extensively in classical voice with teachers in Italy, the US and Canada and studied acting, Alexander Technique, Italian and French.
